Suddenly, Griffith arrives to talk to Guts in an attempt to calm him down. They talk about Nosferatu Zodd and how there are many things in the world that are beyond him. Guts questions Griffith about his necklace and tells him that Nosferatu Zodd flew away when he saw it. In response, Griffith tells Guts that his necklace is the Beherit, and he got it from a fortune teller when he was a child. According to the fortune teller, the holder of the necklace can have the world in exchange for the holder’s blood and flesh. As a result, Griffith assures Guts that he will never change, no matter what happens. Guts then asks Griffith why he came to his aid, to which Griffith responds that he doesn’t need a reason to risk his life for him, regardless of how often he does it. Meanwhile, the King of Midland and his subordinates arrived to praise the noble service of the Band of the Hawk. Griffith focuses on Charlotte, the King’s only daughter, who rarely goes out of the fortress. In an unexpected turn of events, Charlotte stumbles in front of Griffith, prompting the mercenary leader to assist the princess. General Julius intervenes while Princess Charlotte is blushing and slaps Griffith across the face for touching the princess. The following day, the Band of the Hawk stands guard during the royal hunt. There, Griffith takes advantage of the opportunity to speak with Princess Charlotte once more. A wild boar appears while Griffith and Princess Charlotte are bonding, causing Princess Charlotte’s horse to flee, much to the delight of General Julius, who appears to be plotting something bad. As a result, Griffith stepped in to save the princess. To Charlotte’s and the Band of the Hawk’s surprise, an arrow flew into Griffith’s chest. Thanks to his necklace, Griffith avoids death caused by the poisoned arrow. At night, Griffith orders Guts to assassinate General Julius in retaliation for his uncouth behavior toward him. Moreover, Griffith requests that Guts cover his face to protect his future plans for Midland. As ordered, Guts snuck into the palace to assassinate General Julius. Despite his success, Julius manages to remove his mask and recognize Guts’ face. At that moment, Adonis appears, alarming Guts, who ends up killing the young man. As soldiers arrived to subjugate Guts, things began to heat up. However, before he could leave the palace, an arrow from one of the archers wounded his arm. Guts returns to camp and wonders where Griffith is. According to Casca, Griffith got invited to a dinner hosted by Princess Charlotte at the palace. Regrettably, Casca has spent the entire day looking for Guts, only to find him with an arrow wound in his arm. She becomes suspicious and pursues Guts, who is on his way to Griffith. Before Guts could talk to Griffith, Casca stops him and explains how he could embarrass Griffith if he were to look bad in front of Princess Charlotte. Guts and Casca can hear Griffith talking about his dream with Princess Charlotte in the background. Guts looks bothered and frustrated when Griffith tells Charlotte that he doesn’t consider his men his friends. Griffith believes that he can only treat a man as a friend if that man is his equal. The episode ends when a maid rushes up to Griffith and Princess Charlotte, informing them of Julius and Adonis’ assassination.
