In the film, Clea seeks help from Doctor Strange to deal with the multiverse as she cut through to make an entrance where both of them jump in, and the movie ends with a cryptic message of an upcoming third film: Doctor Strange Will Return. Theron’s character, Clea, first appeared in the comics Strange Tales #126 in November 1964; she is a sorceress, but also the eventual wife of Doctor Strange and successor as Sorcerer Supreme.
The actress very vaguely touches on her potential MCU return on Jimmy Kimmel Live, hinting that Marvel doesn’t give clear contract or story plans to actors, even joking that Marvel could ‘possibly’ change their mind on having her reprise the role in the future. Watch her interview below:
While Charlize Theron’s Clea merely appeared for a few frames in the post-credit scene, her character reveals left quite an impression on the audience, expecting her return in the third Doctor Strange film, where she and Doctor Strange venture into the multiverse this time, in contrast to Doctor Strange, Wanda, and America Chavez springing through multiverses in Doctor Strange 2. It is safe to say, seeing as the actress herself is enthusiastic upon reprising her role as Clea, that there’s a huge possibility Theron might return. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Meanwhile, Charlize Theron plays Lady Lesso, the dean in the school for evil in The School For Good and Evil, currently streaming on Netflix.
