Recently speaking with the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel, Justison and Einarsson showed the process the visual effects team had to go through in rendering a realistic She-Hulk for the series. You can watch the interview below:

“So if you’re going to create a fully digital character like She-Hulk, there’s sort of two streams you’re pursuing at the same time,” Justison begins by saying the standard thing for any CG character is visual development, “We have a visual development here at Marvel. They look at all the comic books and they look at how our story is telling her story. And then the other side of that is that we look at our casting.”

It is important to note that the team should be able to know what the cast member, in this case, it’s Tatiana Maslany, looks like in full so that the ‘transformation’ doesn’t alter her appearance entirely, but rather emphasize its feature to still be the ‘look-alike’ in She-Hulk form. Check out the sample transformation they included in the video below:

“We in [the] VFX [team] subject her to a lot of scanning and photography.” It is pretty much similar to how animation studios have to draft storyboards and character designs, where Einarsson continues, “That then goes to [the] building stage, and that goes through multiple steps of development, making the model look as real as possible, just in terms of, like, physical proportions.”
