Avatar has been made available on Disney+ after the House of Mouse acquired its distributor 20th Century Fox. However, the streamer has just removed the sci-fi epic from its listing without any word from Disney (via Total Film). It isn’t clear why Disney+ has unlisted Avatar from its roster but fans might already know why. It was previously reported that the movie is returning to theaters in September. With the film unavailable on the streaming platform, fans will be encouraged to head to the cinema to enjoy the trip to Pandora all over again.
James Cameron recently shared the official poster for Avatar’s theatrical re-release. A new trailer was also dropped featuring remastered footage. Needless to say, people are hyped up for the movie’s epic return. Avatar was directed by James Cameron and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi and Sigourney Weaver. The film follows Jake Sully, an injured Marine who is sent on a mission on the jungle moon known as Pandora that is being colonized and mined by the Resources Development Administration. After getting an “avatar” that was meant for his twin brother, Jake bonds with the indigenous people of the planet and falls in love with their culture. That doesn’t fully cover it but it’s best to watch it to truly understand it. Avatar returns to theaters on September 23, 2022. Avatar: The Way of Water will premiere on December 16, 2022.
