However, Matthew Perry, who played the iconic Chandler Bing in Friends, recently opened up to CNN about why he no longer watches the huge hit sitcom.

“I was taking 55 Vicodin a day, I weighed 128 lbs, I was on Friends getting watched by 30 million people – and that’s why I can’t watch the show, cause I was brutally thin,” Perry explained.

Rewatching Friends today, according to the Fools Rush In actor, would remind him of the state he was in at the time of its filming, when alcohol and cocaine had taken their toll on him.

Perry narrated, “I didn’t watch the show, and haven’t watched the show, because I could go, ‘Drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine’. I could tell season by season by how I looked. That’s why I don’t wanna watch it, because that’s what I see.”

The actor spoke candidly that his experience with the show was unfairly different if compared with his co-stars’. “You know, the thing that always makes me cry – and I hope I don’t cry here – is that it’s not fair. It’s not, it’s not fair,” expressed Perry.

The actor-author justified, “It’s not fair that I had to go through this disease while the other five didn’t. They got everything that I got, but I had to fight this thing – and still have to fight this thing.”

In November, Perry released his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, detailing his drug and alcohol addiction during his time in the spotlight.

In May 2021, the six cast members of Friends delighted the fans when they reunited in HBO Max’s special, Friends: The Reunion, where Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Tyler Perry were seen in the same room seventeen years after the show ended.
