Here’s What Happened Before More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers Episode 12

Shiori couldn’t sleep at all as she recalled last night’s scary moments. Meanwhile, Akari entered the dorm and revealed that she fell asleep while stargazing. Mei noted that Akari was bold enough to sleep outside alone. Suddenly, Shiori and Mei saw Jirou leading Shiori to wonder if he was at the beach too. Later, Shiori and Jirou ran into each other and the latter was mesmerized to see Shiori in her pajamas. He thought that Minami is lucky to see her in pajamas every day. Shiori told Jirou that she was looking forward to working with him in the kitchen today. In the bathroom, Jirou met Akari and she asked if he was doing okay. She felt that Jirou was feeling a bit low. She asked if he was thinking about last night when they were together. Jirou was taken aback but Akari assured him that it was a husband-wife secret. He remembered the events of last night and thought that it was nice of her to laugh it off. He wondered if Akari was being considerate in her own way. During kitchen duty, Jirou asked Shiori if she was going to the event. Shiori told him that she was ready but also scared after what happened to her the other night. She told him that she heard voices coming out from the bench at the beach. Meanwhile, Jirou was aware of what that sound was. After Shiori left, Jirou was still thinking about her so he was startled by Kamo’s sudden appearance. Kamo then told him about the Test of Courage event that was being organized by his older brother. Kamo revealed that he had the power to pair him with Shiori for the event. He told Jirou that they decide on the grouping via draw lots. He added that rigging the lots is a piece of cake for him and that he can do it for 30 gems. Meanwhile, after drawing the lots, it was revealed that Shiori picked a sunflower. But she feared that she might disappoint her partner because she lacks confidence. Mei assured her that she would be fine. Later, Mei met Kamo and gave him the list revealing Shiori’s draw. Mei then asked Kamo why he can’t just mark the lots and make them draw those. Kamo responded that Jirou would be fine with that but Shiori might not appreciate such tricks. He added that he wanted Shiori to believe that it was a mere coincidence. Mei was impressed and told Kamo that he is a decent person. Elsewhere, Jirou asked Kamo to help him pair Minami and Akari together. He explained that Akari was too troubled and that by pairing them up, she will get a chance to spend time alone with her crush. Jirou felt bad that he was the only one enjoying it. He added that he didn’t want to see her alone. On the evening of the event, Akari was pleasantly surprised to be paired with Minami. The organizer explained that he had put triangle cones at four locations. He asked the groups to move to their starting points. Akari was scared and admitted that she wanted to go back. However, Minami held her hand and tried to comfort her. Akari felt different when she held Minami’s hand. She tried her best not to compare them but she almost remembered Jirou’s touch. Akari then tried to divert her attention by trying to connect with groups via chat. But before she could do that, she realized that she dropped her phone somewhere. At the same time, the other groups started regrouping after the activity ended. Kamo asked Jirou how it went. Jirou revealed that Shiori was too scared throughout the activity and that he couldn’t do anything. Meanwhile, Akari and Minami were running late so Jirou was getting worried about her. But then he thought they might be spending some alone time together in the dark. When it suddenly started pouring, he got really worried about her. He told Shiori that he will go and look for Akari. Shiori noted that this was the first time she saw Jirou’s husband-side. Meanwhile, Akari got separated from Minami as she was trying to find her way out. Eventually, Minami was able to find her as it continued to pour heavily. They were able to find a place to seek shelter and Minami informed his classmates about their location. Elsewhere, Shiori and Jirou shared an intense moment as Jirou embraced her and kissed her in the middle of the forest. While this was happening, Minami and Akari were talking about the latter’s feelings for Jirou. It was then that Minami told Akari that he feels like she is his little sister. However, Akari told herself that she needed to cheer up for Jirou’s sake. She remembered her promise to Jirou that they would make it to grade A and swap partners. Akari then asked Minami if the sisterly feeling will go away once she becomes his wife during the practical course. Minami revealed that he knew she was crushing on him. He added that he was grateful that she liked him but he was in love with someone else. Akari asked if he was in love with Shiori, but Minami told her that it was someone else. Toward the end of the episode, it was clear to Akari that she will never be able to become Minami’s girlfriend. However, she vowed to work harder to pursue Jirou after her realization that night.
