According to tipster ViewerAnon, he overheard the director saying that he wants Shazam! 2 to earn over a billion dollars at the box office for one specific reason — and it’s to stick it to the naysayers. In a tweet, the Hollywood insider noted that Sandberg’s sole intention for wanting to see Fury of the Gods earn a billion is so he can “look down on all the peasants” aka his critics.

To be fair, the film had some tough competition and was sandwiched between Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. Had Warner Bros. given the project a release date that had no major competition, I’m pretty sure it would’ve earned more. I also think that the overall perception of the DCEU was a huge reason why the first film failed to perform well at the box office. Hopefully, Fury of the Gods will do better financially this time around because frankly speaking, the film looks really promising. However, it’s worth mentioning that it will clash with James Cameron’s Avatar 2, a film that could potentially replicate the original’s success. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.Shazam!
