Specifically, the latest report from GEM Standard revealed the most-streamed titles in Japan during the third week of October. Aside from the two titles mentioned, the other anime that cracked the top 10 is quite surprising.
Spy x Family Continues to Dominate Streaming Charts
During the previous GEM Standard weekly reports in the Spring and even the Summer 2022 season, Spy x Family has consistently been one of the most-streamed, if not the most-streamed show. This is likely thanks to its broad appeal. After all, unlike typical battle shonen anime titles that appeal to those who want action, Spy x Family combines action with slice-of-life style segments. In case you’re unfamiliar, Spy x Family is an anime series by Wit Studio and CloverWorks that’s based on the manga of the same name by Tatsuya Endo. The manga is serialized in Jump+ and is one of the platform’s biggest hits. For reference, here are the top 10 most-streamed shows in Japan from October 15 to 21: Also, this ranking is not limited to anime as it also includes live-action titles. Aside from the top two, One Piece and Detective Conan continue to be one of the most streamed shows. Gundam is also in the fourth spot for last week, though it’s not explicitly mentioned which series is referred to. ALSO READ: Spy x Family Confirmed as Most Popular Anime in Japan
Chainsaw Man Continues to Get Hype
As for Chainsaw Man, the show is among the most anticipated titles of the Fall 2022 season, so it’s no surprise to see it get the second spot on the chart. Though its violent nature and teen-oriented story may limit it from grabbing the top spot sometime this season. Still, it will be interesting to see if the hype for Chainsaw Man will be sustained, though as for Spy x Family, it will likely continue its reign as the most-streamed show in Japan. Both anime shows get new episodes every week on Crunchyroll in North America and other territories.
