Here’s What Happened Before The Eminence in Shadow Episode 13
In Episode 12 of The Eminence in Shadow, Cid decides to enter the circle and ends up disappearing as a result. Alpha and the other Shadow Garden members kidnap Nelson and follow Cid into the Sanctuary along with Rose and Alexia. There, we find out that Alpha is an elf (if her appearance wasn’t enough of an indication!). Moreover, she’s a descendant of Olivier, the hero who cut off the left arm of Diabolos 1,000 years ago. Cid meets an imprisoned Aurora and frees her. In return, Aurora reveals that the Sanctuary is actually a massive prison holding the memories of all past heroes. Therefore, if the Sanctuary’s magical core gets destroyed, Aurora and the other memories would be lost. Through the memories they view, Cid and the Shadows find out that the cult of Diabolos uses the Sanctuary to experiment on orphan girls with Diabolos’ blood in an attempt to resurrect him. While most of these orphan children died, some, like Olivier, lived to become strong heroes. We find out that the pills that turn people into demons came to be through experiments on Diabolos’ severed arm. Nelson, one of the people who consumed these pills, becomes demonic. Using his control over the Sanctuary, he scatters everyone in multiple memories and creates copies of himself to fight all the Shadows at once.
