Although viewers aren’t new to The Addams Family characters, we met a number of pretty interesting ones in Wednesday; especially those who are attending Nevermore Academy. We get a glimpse of the different outcasts attending the same school as Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega). In fact, this is the first time we’re learning more beyond the original characters of the comic strip and what their abilities are. Here are the different types of outcasts we met at Nevermore Academy:

Psychic Abilities

Most of the students at Nevermore Academy are gifted with psychic abilities. But these psychic abilities are not limited to just being able to see the past or the future through visions like Wednesday Addams does. There are other types of psychic abilities and characters that we discover in Wednesday including the following:

Xavier Thorpe (played by Percy Hynes White) - Animation and precognitionRowan Laslow (played by Calum Ross) - TelekinesisEugene Otinger (played by Moosa Mostafa) - Animal telepathic communication with beesWednesday Addams - Precognition and retrocognitive powers

Sirens

Another outcast specie we meet at Nevermore Academy are the sirens, of which Bianca Barclay (played by Joy Sunday) is considered the ‘Queen Bee.’ In Wednesday, sirens are mermaid-like creatures who have the ability to persuade other people through their singing. When they submerse themselves in water, their legs turn into a long, blue mermaid tail and their hands become webbed with razor sharp claws. We haven’t seen Bianca turn into this figure but we’ve seen some of her kind transform into this during the canoe race episode.

Werewolves

The academy also has some werewolf students who “wolf out” during a full moon. The most popular werewolf we meet and grow to love on Wednesday is the main star’s roommate, Enid Sinclair (played by Emma Myers). Throughout the season, Enid struggles with her late transformation and worry that it never comes. Whenever she gets excited or angry, only her colorful nails would turn into razor sharp claws. Thankfully, she discovers her true abilities as she rescues her friend from another monster.

Vampires

We also came across some ‘Fangs’ in Nevermore Academy, which is another term for vampires. Some of the students at the school have been there for decades but we never see their powers in the first season of Wednesday. The Fangs have a pale complexion and wear sunglasses throughout the day. The only vampire we fully encounter in Wednesday is Yoko Tanaka (played by Naomi J. Ogawa), who briefly becomes Enid’s roommate in the show.

Gorgons

And yes, the show also has its share of gorgons, a creature based on Greek mythology with similar powers as Medusa. Like Medusa, gorgons have snakes on top of their heads that temporarily turns people who look at them into stone, including Ajax himself. Because of this, gorgons need to wear a hat at all times and even cover a mirror when they’re taking a bath. In Wednesday, the gorgon we encounter is Ajax Petropolus (played by Georgie Farmer) who later becomes Enid’s boyfriend.

Other Outcasts at Wednesday

We discover later in the show that the outcasts in Wednesday are not limited to the ones we find at Nevermore Academy. As a matter of fact, people are shocked to discover that there are Hydes in existence. And when one starts killing both Nevermore students and Jericho normie residents, they become cautious of who the monster could be. As it turns out, Hydes were actually once students at the academy. But because they were unpredictable and violent, these monsters were banned from the school. The Hyde we encounter in the show turns out to be Wednesday’s romantic interest, Tyler Galpin (played by Hunter Doohan). We also learn that there are shapeshifters in the world of Wednesday. But unfortunately, the only shapeshifter we encounter in the show is Principal Larissa Weems (played by Gwendoline Christie). Another outcast specie we come across in Wednesday is electrokinesis, which is possessed by Uncle Fester (played by Fred Arnisen). We don’t exactly know if there are other outcasts like him since he could have gotten his powers after going through electroshock therapy. But who knows, maybe there are other outcasts like him in that world. You can check out the students at Nevermore Academy in this video:

We’ll likely see more of these species when Wednesday Season 2 returns.
